Basically it’s just about what I expected, but better. The stand comes in three pieces that screw right into each other. It’s fast and easy to set up and looks seamless when completed. It’s better than I expected because it is well made and substantial. I was expecting something a little more flimsy for the price. I’m writing this review because I have benefited from other people review of various products.

This was perfect for my use: a directional reading lamp that can also be used to light bookshelves for browsing and brighten up a dark corner. The lamp is sturdy and the base heavy so it doestn’t tip easily, but it also can be lifted and moved around when needed. Each lamp housing swivels all the way around so I can direct it anywhere: to focus on a picture on the wall or on the bookshelves. I am using compact fluorescent bulbs in the lamp so the housings stay cool to the touch while I have plenty of light to ready by. Love the lamp.

Do not have anything negative to say about this lamp. My favorite things about the lamp are:
-Sturdy – nice study metal
-Easy to Assemble!
-Great Price
-Love that you can adjust amount of light by turning on 1, 2 or all 3 lights
-Adjustable light – the heads adjust so you can direct the light just where you want it
-Sleek design – not too big so it fits almost anywhere
-Came well packed in nice box.

I would suggest using energy light bulbs. At first I had regular 60 watt light bulb and it got really hot, but I switched to the spiral energy saving bulbs and the heads do not get nearly as hot and the light is a lot nicer – cooler light all around.

I was very pleased when I saw it come out of the box. It looks very nice and had a sturdy base that could even stand up on a carpet. On the first day I used the maximum allowed 60 watt bulbs. A horrible smell filled the room and gave me a headache. I found the center lamp could not be turned off. The reason why is because the rotating switches were held on with glue. The glue melted on the center lamp, and spinning the switch would not turn the small cylindrical piece inside that was covered in melted glue. Apparently I was also breathing in the fumes from hot glue.

I figured 60 watts was too much so after the glue solidified again (after I unplugged it to turn it off) I tried using only 40 watts in all lamp fixtures. The same problem came back. It took twice as long for the glue to melt, but the problem was still there.

I won’t use 20 watts because I wanted to use it to read. I am going to attempt to send it back asap if it is not too late.

The worst part of it all is that it is so obvious that you should not be putting glue at the top of a lamp that gets too hot to touch. I am not an engineer, but even I can figure out that making the switches screw on like the top of a bottle would be much better than using a glue which melts and releases horrible fumes.

I am surprised none of the other reviewers had this problem. I wonder if I am the only one unlucky enough to have gotten one which had glue switches instead of some other model they were using. I noticed some of the other reviewers mentioned the smell and heat, but not this problem.

I will not buy from this company again.

I thought I should mention that there is a burning smell (metallic scent) that fills the room when it is turned on. This worries me a bit. Otherwise, it is as it looks, but I don’t think I would leave it on when I am not present in the room because of the smell.

EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED. EASILY ASSEMBLED WITHIN FIVE MINUTES AND VERY FUNCTIONAL. SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY GOOD QUALITY AND IT WORKS VERY WELL. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

Product description: The Trac Tree Floor Lamp features three separate adjustable lights each with their own switch so you can use one at a time, two at a time, or all three at the same time. The lamp uses 60 watt incandescent bulbs. It is 64 inches tall, black, and is sturdy.

What I like about the Trac Tree Floor Lamp: It is very easy to assemble – it can be easily assembled by one person and it assembles very quickly if two people work on it. While it is inexpensive, it is very sturdy. The three separate switches allow you to have just the amount of light you need which is perfect, for example, if you want just a little light while watching TV or a lot of light when reading, knitting, sewing, etc. Each light can be moved so you can direct the light exactly where you need it.

What I don’t like about the Trac Tree Floor Lamp: yes, you can focus the lights to the spot you want but the light is a little too focused and only lights up a small part of the room. Having said that, the 60 watt bulbs were a little too powerful for such a small space so I switched to 40 watt bulbs which worked a lot better. And while you can adjust each light to shine where you want, you need to be careful because the longer the light is on, the hotter it gets and could burn you if you touch it.

Bottom-line: The Trac Tree Floor lamp isn’t perfect but does an excellent job of lighting a small area.

See that picture? It’s pretty much exactly what this thing looks like. So if you’re in it purely for the aesthetic, I’d say you’re safe hitting the purchase button.

That said, this lamp is incredibly cheaply made. It’s a struggle to thread a bulb into any of the sockets–they doesn’t just slide or screw in naturally, so prepare to jiggle and fight and plug the thing in a million times. The switches also feel very fragile, like hollow plastic shells. And while the base keeps this beast from tipping over and igniting my bed (yes, the fixture really *does* get that hot), there’s no reservoir underneath to hold excess cord length.

A decent deal for the price, but not something you want in a nice home.

I ordered this for my son to give to me for Christmas. He brought it that morning and put it together for me. Sadly he threw the box away or I would be returning it. The placement of the lights was great and I could see to read or knit sitting on the couch while watching TV. Then one day the lowest bulb went out (even though it was new) and when I replaced it with another new one, it flashed on and off again and wouldn’t work. Must be a short or something wrong with a wire as the same thing happened with another new bulb. Now, 1 week later when I turned on the top light it was fine until I tried to turn it off. I can turn and turn but it doesn’t turn the light off. Somehow the knob came completely off and I have to monkey around with it a lot to get it to turn off. Guess I just learned at $40.00 lesson. I will look for a similar light but better construction!

This is a good general purpose light for an extra bed room, but I think it needs some diffusers for the bulbs in order to be used efficiently in a living room, etc…and yes…the lights do get hot as mentioned in other reviews.
